Leaving a Legacy of THRIFTY-*LOVING*!

*MANY* A TIME, IN MY "EXPERIENCE", the FINAL-Bargained-Down-Agreed-Upon-PRICE of a "THRIFTY-TREASURE" is *more* often than not, Achieved with My PROMISE that Said-OBJECT "...WILL be *LOVED*!" -- EVEN, if IT ends up being Packed-Away for DECADES!

AS usual, We didn't Leave until LATE! - [12:30!!] - There was that Large "Charity" YARD-SALE a few Streets over... I got a Few ITEMS. But, I'll save THEM for Tomorrow.

After, a Few Other Stops on Our Way to BEACON HILL around 2:30-ish, We got Lucky and found ONE *still* OPEN! -- A NICE-30s-SOMETHING-LADY and Her TEENAGED-DAUGHTERS...

Where, I picked up THIS "TOLL"-PAINTING for $2...

IT's been done on a WOOD-PLANK that was supposed to be atop of an UNfinished Bench... Since IT wasn't "attached", She KINDLY let Me have IT. - The PIECE, along with Several Other ONES had been Painted by Her MOTHER...

Personally, as Pleased as I am to *have* and Cherish IT, I find it Disconcerting that The-GIRLS wouldn't want to "Preserve" ANY of Their GRANDMOTHER's rather Skillful WORKS!? -- Doubtless, in a Couple of Decades from Now, They'll probably be Wishing that They HAD!

NEXT, We continued on a TRAIL of ORANGE "ESTATE SALE" SIGNS... And, the Day's "GOLD-MINE" of *TREASURES*!!

Although, the PLACE had been "picked-over", the Remaining Items still gave Evidence of a Home that had been - [mostly metaphorically] - RICH in ART and CULTURE. -- I came across a Formal NAVAL-OFFICER's Dinner Jacket in one of the open Closets. Which, explained the "Source" of many of the House's more "EXOTIC" Items and READING Material...

There were Lots and LOTS of BOOKS! And, SOMEONE was also a KNITTER - [I'll have "Stitchy"-Type Pics Tomorrow] - and a Lover of the NEEDLE ARTS...

As indicated by THIS *AWESOME* FOLIO BOX of *Actual Size* PATTERNS!! - IT's Dated from 1963. The Heavily-Papered Contents are in Excellent Condition! -- For ANYONE into Replicating AMERICAN "Historical" Needle and Textile Crafting, THIS is a MOTHER-LODE of INFO!

And, of course, MORE Additions to MY ART-"LIBRARY"!

Plus, THIS Addition to My "REFERENCE"-LIBRARY... The TOME literally contains a TON of Biological Knowledge, AND *WEIGHS* as much!!

So... And how MUCH was This STACK-of-STUFF..?? -- well... Along with MORE STUFF - [that I'll show Tomorrow] - IT *ALL* came to JUST "$5."!!

THEN, as I was Paying for IT, I noticed THIS PAINTING on the Wall...

Despite being Originally Priced at $18., and since the PLEASANT-ESTATE-AGENT-LADY Liked Me - [MOTHER had been Chatting Her up!] - an Offer of $9. was made... Which, "normally", I would have GLADLY Paid...

HOWEVER, I *REALLY* wanted to ADHERE to My LIMIT on My "$5.-and-Under"-THRIFTY-ORIGINAL-ART-COLLECTION... I "mentioned" Such, with the added Incentive, "...IT'll be LOVED..."

...By Me, and hopefully, ALL of YOU as well?!

Now, I just NEED to *FIND* some WALL "SPACE"... And/Or, PROGENY *willing* to Properly CONTINUE The LEGACY..?!

Speaking of My MUNCHKINS...

**HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STEP-NEPH-PRETEEN**!!

I'm Going To Need *More* WALL SPACE...

IF I CONTINUE to keep Increasing My ART COLLECTION!

It's Difficult trying to go against GENETICS! -- What with Actual "ARTISTS" on MOTHER'S Side. And, an Avid Art-ACQUIRER on FATHER'S - He remembers His Paternal-Grandfather as always buying LARGE Paintings and Sculptures! -- I seriously WISH, that I KNEW "What" Great-Granddad had, AND **WHERE** IT all IS, Now!!

Anyway... I'm still building *MY* "ARTSY" Collections! -- My Primary Focus has been on RHINO ART
- which mostly consists of "Prints", Numbered Lithos, and the occasional Original Piece... Otherwise, of Late, I've been assembling an Assortment of Unknown-Not-So-Famous-And-Never-Will-Be-Yet-Still-Quite-Gifted-ARTISANS. With a rather STRONG leaning toward NAUTICAL-Type WORKS...

I'm just a SEASIDE-SHIPPY kind of Girl!

Who, also, LOVES a Great BARGAIN! Hence, My growing "Gallery" of Small-Sized OILS for UNDER $10. Each - actuallyMOST have been under $5.!!

...As in, THIS ONE! - [ABOVE] - For LESS than $3.! -- We were over at The SALLY-ANN, Today.. [The few YARDS SALES going on were NOT "worth" mentioning!]

Found IT sitting atop a Box of Cheapy Frames... Probably, because IT too, has a REALLY Crappy-Looking Frame!! But, the [8x10"] Canvas appears to be well-mounted, so it shouldn't be too troublesome to Switch IT out...

Meanwhile... I also came across THIS - [BELOW] - NEEDLEPOINT CANVAS [18x24"] for a Dollar! - Not quite My Scenic-Subject-Matter-of-Choice... However, finding Good Quality Canvas at an Affordable Price is not so often. And, I can always do up some Other "Picture" on IT! -- I have PLENTY of Yard-Sale THREAD...

Nearby the Canvas - [for another Dollar] - was THIS - [BELOW] - 18" Strip of FABRIC... Although IT didn't "Say", I'm fairly certain that IT's LINEN! -- The Colours are also much Richer than what's showing Here. The Background is somewhat more OLIVE and the "RED" more "RUST' in Tone. The Texture is very SOFT!

And then, there's THIS cute little 3-Inch-and-a-bit BLUE & WHITE CREAMER from PORTUGAL - for, YES, another Dollar!

However, NOT *ALL* is Terrific in THRIFTY-TERRITORY... For $5., I picked up a bunch of "RACK" Pieces.
They were of a Heavy "Wire" Metal in
Cobalt BLUE - I thought IT would make for an Interesting "Display" Piece to use on My Craft Show Tables..?

AFTER spending waay too much Time TRYING to FIGURE IT OUT - [and I'm usually pretty good at this sort of thing..] - I've concluded  that HOW EVER IT's suppose to be "Assembled", SOMETHING is definitely MISSING!! -- I'm going to try to Return IT Later... OR, use the Parts as TRIVETS..?!!

IT's Sooo **HOT** Today...

MY BLOOG IS MELTING!?!

The TOP TEMP of the Day BUBBLED up to 36C [96.8F] with a Humidex of 47C [116.6F]!! -- Even HOOK HAVEN wasn't as Refreshing as IT usually is...

AND, of course, there was "SOMEPLACE" that I just HAD to be AT *during* this particular Peak-Period! -- THANKFULLY, That Location had GREAT A/C!! -- Which, made getting BACK into The BARBEQUE MOBILE a definite Chore!

Anyway... IT "all" wouldn't be so BAD - IF, I could only be THERE!! - [BELOW]

I'm even *almost* wishing that I was BACK to Doing THIS!!

"ALMOST"... I think My Brain is MELTING too... ah! Careful! The Floor's a little sticky...

Hot Weather, Hot Stuff, *HOT* GUYS!!

WHAT MORE DOES A GIRL NEED?!

Once again, We started Out a wee bit "late"... But, as I *keep* telling MOTHER - "ZEN Shopping"! -- And, it's *not* like We really "need" MORE Stuff!

Anyhoo... We started with a Couple of YARD SALES in "Our" Neighbourhood.

I got THIS fabulous SUEDE JEWELRY BOX for ONLY 50-Cents!! It's about 16x24x9cm. The "Artwork" is PYRO-ETCHED.

At the Next Stop, I couldn't Resist! IT was just a Dollar... And, strangely "familiar"...

-- It wasn't until earlier this Evening, whilst Photographing all of This STUFF that I
"noticed" - I've *already* GOT One of These! ...Was a GIFT...

...oops! My Bad...

But, What-the-Hey! IT's not the
"first" RHINO Double in My rather Large Collection. And, I can NEVER have TOO *many* RHINOS!!

OH! Hey! LOOK! A little
"Squadron" of VINTAGE PLANES Flying by! -- COOL!

Meanwhile, We also ran into MRS. CLEAN at This SALE and gave Her a Lift Home, just down the Road... She'd already finished Her "Park Walk", but it was beginning to get Hotter out, and She's not suppose to be out IN the SUN for so long. Besides, We had to GO *that* Way anyhow!

And, off We were to Other "Areas"...

Picked up THIS 10-Inch High White Clay VASE for another DOLLAR... IT has a good Weight to IT. Clean Lines... IT can be Used ANYwhere!

Further into That Area, One of My "Regular" WASHCLOTH Customers was also holding a Yard Sale... MOTHER picked up some "Crafting" Items, and I got an Order for *more* WASHCLOTHS!

WOOHOO!!

...hmm... I'm going to have to embark on an EXPEDITION
*into* THE ROOM to Retrieve the Storage Bucket of My WASHCLOTH Inventory, for Some of the Colours that She needs... BTW, *IF* You don't "Hear" from Me.. It'll be because I'm *trapped* in some Alternate Dimension between YARN WORLD and The-GOOD-*STUFF*!! -- Bring extra Dr.Pepper and Chocolate!

Eventually, We made Our Way to BEACON HILL... Only a Few Sales There... However, at One of the "Regular" Sales, I gladly swapped a LOONIE for THIS refreshing OIL PAINTING by a LAURA WRIGHT... According to an "attached" 1983 Newspaper Article, that's suppose to be BRANSCOMBE Church on the Cliff...

I still have to do *more* Research. -- I did come across a British Artist by *that* Name, however, the STYLE is quite Different... And, despite being of a British Beach, the "Article" was from a Canadian Newpaper! -- So... IT's about 14x18in. Oil on Canvas. 1983..? Could do with a touch of Cleaning... And, has a not such a great Frame... As if "that", *really* matters!?

-- Hello?! "A DOLLAR"!

Afterward, it was Time to do some Groceries before heading to the Local COUNCILLOR - [Who was "Performing" in the DUNK TANK!] - Sponsored
"FUN FAIR"! -- A waay BIGGER Event than that Other One of Last Week!

THIS had actual "RIDES". And, a Bandstand with Music BLARING out at the GAZILLION Level!

We arrived TOO Late for the FREE HOT DOGS!

NUTS! I was beginning to get Peckish...

However, I did manage to get a FREE Blue
"ICICLE"! -- Haven't had one of THOSE in Decades!

But. HEY! LOOK! ... "FIRE TRUCK"! With the Ginormous LADDER... And, FIREMEN!

Oooo....! *EYE*-CANDY!!

And, ohh... Strapping Young PARAMEDICS!
-- MEET ANDREW and "DINO"!  -- They were Both quite CHARMING!

Anyway, We didn't stay long... Still had *more* Groceries to do, and the needed Pilgrimage to THE MALL. -- UV Levels were also peaking... As was, that Soon-to-be-DEAFNESS!

Less than 2-Hours later, We were settled Home... Where, I came across some Great NEWS!
-- Which, I will *Disclose*, TOMORROW!!

And, YES! -- I *do* ENJOY being "EVIL"!! [hehe!]
