HAPPY [CANADIAN] THANKS-for-the-GREAT-WEATHER-Today DAY!

EVEN THOUGH I SPENT MOST OF IT *INSIDE* FINISHING UP THE MOST RECENT BLANKET!

IT's taking longer than I'd HOPED...

MEANWHILE though... SISTER sent Me a Couple of PICS of "PLATINUM-BLACK"
- [My FIRST *WOOL* BLANKET that started Them all...] - [SEE 20NOV2013 POST] - enjoying a bit of FRESH AIR in Her BACKYARD...

The WEATHER HERE is about the same... Just LESS LEAVES!

-- At the Moment...

IT's a "HOLIDAY"-MONDAY, but feels like a "SUNDAY"...

************************************************************

CHINTZY on the CHEAP...

"WHY?" I BOUGHT THEM... [seeing as I am, *more* into "SEASCAPES"..]

• honestly?! That 50-Cent-EACH Price certainly *didn't* TWIST My *BAD-ARM* the "WRONG"-Way!!
• They'll go well with My "COLLECTIONS" of FLORAL NEEDLEWORK CANVASSES and FABRIC REMNANTS. And, GLASS... CERAMICS... Little WOODEN BOXES... TINS... - [btw, just STOP Me at *any* Time here!] - VINTAGE FURNITURE... That B&B I'll never Own and aren't "Domestic" enough to Operate *anyway*!!
• You know, I just Remembered... I have an ANTIQUE TIN that I'd gotten off of My Late-PATERNAL-GRANDMOTHER Decades ago that *would* also MATCH!!
• Besides, with *better* Frames, Their diminutive 8x10-Inch size will make Them even more "DECORATIF"..?
• DON'T need to be "Watered".
• and, oh yeah, did I mention..? *50-CENTS Each*!!

Meanwhile, This 6-Inch SUNFLOWER TIN-BOX only set Me back 25-Cents.

-- Just a little "COUNTRY"-CHINTZ!

**************************************************************

POST 1111 - [say..do those "ONES" look a little *too* Pointy..?]

TODAY'S "KEYWORD" -- *NEEDLE*-work... - [sorta...]

hmm... The SUN was OUT. WARM, but *not* Humid. And, with a Pleasant BREEZE...
-- A *PERFECT* Day in which to "Poke-In" on *The VAMPIRES*!

I had some Regular "Bloodwork" to have done... AS, did MOTHER... Although, SHE *wasn't* the ONE having *only* WATER for Breakfast!! -- THANKFULLY, She was Ready-to-Leave WHEN I was! And, that TRAFFIC was Light and PARKING was actually to be FOUND!

Despite a little nearby Grocery-Shopping thrown in, We still managed to get Back HOME within a HALF-HOUR! - [shock!] - Then, it was a quick "BRUNCH" for Me and We were OFF to MICHAEL'S...

NOT a Lot happening There, Today... I just Added to the RIBBON-*HOARD*... [Blame IT on the Blood-LOSS and 20%-OFF-Coupon!]

Meanwhile, seeing as IT was TUESDAY and "SENIORS'-DAY" at VALUE-VILLAGE, We headed on over There...

WHERE, I found These THREE "NEEDLE"-WORK SCREENS - [8.5x11" on the INSIDE] - for
90-Cents-Each after Discounts and Taxes! -- They're in Great Condition!

SOMEDAY, I'm going to HAVE TO "Dig-OUT" My THRIFTY-TAPESTRY-"THREADS" and *DO* One of THESE CANVASSES!! -- I'm kinda liking that One with the Pansies...

To Complete My "CHINTZY"-Purchases, I also Acquired THIS METER of Quilting-Quality COTTON FABRIC for $1.80... I've got absolutely NO CLUE as to *WHAT* I'm going to DO *with* IT - But, IT's NICE!

Well... MUST stay "on Point" and get back to My Knitting-*NEEDLES* now...

********************************************************************

ah! I can ALWAYS *Count* on FAMILY...

..TO HELP COME "UP" WITH *NEEDED* BLOOG-"MATERIAL" -- *Especially*, when My COMPUTER starts to ***SUDDENLY*** do Something *STUPID*!!

[just SISTER getting Photographic-EVIDENCE that The SUN had shown up!]

As in, RIGHT NOW!! -- *seriously*??!! -- I'm having that CURSOR-INSERT-PROBLEM again!! - And, CAN'T *REMEMBER* "HOW" I Fixed IT *LAST* Time!!

-- aarrrgggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

*******************************************************************

hmm... IF I had Another ONE...

...I COULD PROBABLY MAKE A BENCH..? -- IT would certainly be STRONG enough!

Anyhoo, THIS WINE-RACK was My ONLY YARD-SALE-FIND-of-the-Day! -- From $5., I got IT down to $3.50!

Made of Quarter-Inch-CHROME, IT weighs a TON! -- I don't own any WINE, but at *that* Price and Sturdy-Design, I couldn't "pass" IT UP!! - Besides, I was Thinking that I could probably Incorporate IT into My CRAFT-SHOW TABLE DISPLAY..??

Whatever... I'm sure that I'll come up with SOME "USE"!

Meanwhile...

We only Found TWO SALES and an "ESTATE" One... THAT Place had Several VINTAGE Pieces of WELL-WORN FURNITURE. And, ARTWORK - which, for the most part, *wasn't* in the Best of Conditions... A lot of "Moisture"-Damage.

Overall, the Items weren't nearly as well-kept as Those from that Last ESTATE-SALE of a Couple of Weeks ago - [SEE 06JUL2013 POST] - Not to mention, MANY of Today's Offerings were on the Pricey-Side... Although, there were a Couple of ARCHITECTURAL "Elements" that had caught My Eye. BUT, were not "Removable"... nuts!

Afterward, We headed for LOBLAWS for some *FREE CAKE* - [because IT was "NO-TAXES-DAY"] - and, so MOTHER could a bit of BOTANICAL-"RESCUE" at Their GARDEN-CENTER's "Closing"-SALE... For $1.50, We HALF-Filled the TRUNK.

**THANKFULLY**, however, NO WAY near AS much as a Few Years ago! - [SEE 25JUL2010 POST] -- WHEW!!

********************************************************************

As MUCH as IT makes My "HAIR" Look REALLY *GREAT*...

...WE COULD REALLY DO *WITHOUT* THE HUMIDITY, *NOW*!! -- seriously..? ENOUGH already!!

well... At least, IT was OVERCAST Today. oh. And, a FEW Degrees COOLER, too. -- for now...

But, *enough* of the WEATHER...

sooo... Yesterday, I had "Promised" Additional ESTATE-YARD-SALE-*BOOTY*-PICS for Today..?

...ahh..yeah... about THAT...

Afraid that I got a tad Side-Tracked with HOUSE and CYBER STUFF. And, I needed to get some KNIT-TIME in on the NEW HAT... IT totally *slipped* My Mind! -- sorry... My BAD!

INSTEAD, have a Looksee at SISTER's *Latest* GARDENING-"CREATION" -- in *Her* HOT-HUMID LOCALE!

*********************************************************************

oops! guess I dozed off..?

I FORGOT TO SEND A "POSTING" TWEET THIS MORNING LAST NIGHT... I woke up at 6-ish next to My LAPTOP. -- again...

Then again, that "6-ish" bit is good "practice", as THAT's when I'll have to be UP Tomorrow in order to make an Appointment "IN Time"! -- IT had better NOT be RAINING Out. AGAIN!

I had "hoped" to able to *may-BE* Squeeze a teeny-SHOP-EDITION into Today's "Schedule"..? Alas, "NO-JOY"! -- Too much WIND and Whacky-RAIN for My liking... ??PERHAPS?? Tomorrow..?? "After" that Appointment..? -- We'll see...

ANYHOO... HERE's "SOMETHING" to *LOOK AT* whilst I sort Myself OUT!

THIS is the BOUQUET that SISTER gave MOTHER before They left... Those LILIES are *really* Strong!!

*********************************************************************

DAY THREE -- I *Should* have Taken a PICTURE!!

AS, IT IS APPARENTLY A *RARE* OCCURRENCE TO OBSERVE BIG-D DOING "YARD-WORK"!! -- He managed to do a FINE Job on the Lawn with that OLD-PUSH-MOWER!

MEANWHILE... SISTER has been going GARDENING-GAGA with the FRONT YARD **ALL** Day!! -- She "Horticultures" like I "Shovel"... I just hope that all of Them PRETTY-PLANTS will "Survive" being BURIED under 4-plus-FEET of SNOW come WINTER!

well... I've got an EARLY MORNING ahead. And, an even *EARLIER* on FRIDAY!! -- So, MUST get TO Bed!!

Anyhoo, HERE's a PIC of SISTER's GARDEN *BEFORE* They came Out THIS Way!

******************************************************************

"DARTH" SHADOWS...

...MAY THE FLOWER BE WITH YOU...

When SISTER sent THIS TULIP PHOTO that She took the Other Day, the *First* Thought that popped into My Head was THIS - [LEFT] - "STAR WARS" Ad-Poster!!

Anyhoo... Speaking of "DARTH VADER", the Original Actor to Portray the Character - DAVE PROWSE - is *actually* HERE in Town THIS WEEKEND as a GUEST at The OTTAWA COMIC-CON!

I met Him once at another "Convention" about a Decade ago... Nice Man.

Anyway, Check-Out the Website for the CON, They have a rather Interesting Line-Up!

http://ottawacomiccon.com

MEANWHILE... Also OPENING "TODAY" and, until SEPT. 2nd -- is the "STAR WARS - Identities" EXHIBITION at The CANADA AVIATION and SPACE MUSEUM...

Which, just happens to be rather Close-By! Though, it's been Years since I've been THERE!
-- hmm... Guess I'll have to GO, *some* Time!

****************************************************************

The *Contents* of "THE BOX" of BARGAINS -- Part 2...

BUT FIRST... An ITEM that *wasn't* in "THE BOX".

As it happens, This EMBROIDERY KIT ended up being My *LAST* Purchase-of-the-Day for only a DOLLAR!

Initially, it was the THREAD-COLOUR that caught My Eye... However, I'm somewhat "TEMPTED" to actually - SOME DAY, *maybe* - "DO" This KIT! -- To be Honest, I've NEVER Done ONE of This TYPE before - [with Threads INcluded]...

Although IT's been DECADES, "THIS" - [BELOW] - is the Version that I'm *more* Familiar with... This TAPESTRY "KIT" *was* in "THE BOX"!

IT has TWO PATTERNS... The SECOND One was never Started and I actually prefer IT. -- I would try to Finish up This FIRST One, but, the STITCHING-TENSION on IT is *WARPED*! - I don't think the PERSON Who began IT, used a Proper HOOP to Secure the WORK..? And, the BACK-SIDE STITCHES are kinda Weird-Looking, too...

*IF*, I "ever do" DO the OTHER ONE, I might just consider taking THIS ONE "apart" and RE-do IT..?

Anyway... An additional "CURIOSITY" about IT -- The *DESIGN* has a *1942* COPYRIGHT, yet, the SCREEN and WOOL-YARN are near PRISTINE..?! -- So. Either IT's all been Remarkably PRESERVED or, the "MATERIALS" were more "Recently" acquired!?

The YARN is apparently "U.K." Made -- So, IF Any of YOU from THERE happen to Recognize IT and can place a "Time-PERIOD" on IT - PLEASE - let Me KNOW!

MEANWHILE... A Couple of OTHER "THE BOX" ITEMS...

I Love the SHADE of This BLUE BOTTLE! As well as that "COIL"-Design. The Other VASE's SMOKY-EVERGREEN HUE was also *most* APPEALING!

BTW, so You *Know*, I had "PLANNED" on POSTING a Few *MORE* PICS, "but", the CAMERA-BATTERIES *died* on Me! - AGAIN!! -- ggrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Will TRY to GET it Done, Tomorrow!

****************************************************************

...APRIL Showers Bring "MALE" Flowers..?!? -- Or...

WHERE "*BOY*-FAIRIES" ACTUALLY COME FROM!!??

Apparently, PRINCESSES'-MOM came across THIS... Then, Sent IT to SISTER... Who Sent IT to Me... And, well, let's face it - *I-COULDN'T-RESIST*!! -- Besides, I NEEDED to POST *Something* for Today and was running OUT of Time!! - I have an "Early"-Day Tomorrow...

And, YES, those "CENSOR"-CIRCLES *are* there for a "REASON"!!

BTW, if ANYONE can *IDENTIFY* THIS BLOOM - PLEASE - Let *Me* KNOW! -- IT looks like some kind of Orchid, maybe..??

-- FAIRY-T..??

******************************************************************

We *BEGIN* "YARD-SALE"-SEASON Tomorrow!!

THE *TRUE* "SIGN" OF SPRING!! -- oh! AND, that the WEATHER has been DEVOID of NASTINESS for Several Days in a Row, too! - [for the MOST part...]

The CROCI are also in Full-BLOOM! -- Although, Our TULIPS are just "Breaking-Ground"... Looks like THE-"NATIONAL-CAPITOL"-GUYS will be a tad *BUSY* This Week, Prepping and probably PERSUADING those "CITY"-TULIPS to *Begin*-BLOOMING *IN* Time for the Start of The CANADIAN TULIP FESTIVAL - [MAY 3 - 20] - OTTAWA's Annual *BIG* SPRING Event!

MEANWHILE, SISTER is still AT it Making Her WEDDING-WANDS...

hmm... We might have to Stick a FEW in the GARDEN to give the FLORA a much needed "CLUE"!!

Well... I have to *TRY* to UP "EARLIER" for Tomorrow's TOUR-de-THRIFT!!

*************************************************************

The CURSE of "CUSTOMER" *MAGNETISM*...

...AND, PARKING "TIMING"! -- WHICH, We'll begin with First!

For REAL?! -- WHY is it, that WHENever I have to *STRUGGLE* - [THE CAR has a Low Wheel-Base and the Turning-Radius of a SUPERTANKER!] - INTO that Finally-FOUND-"SPOT", UMPTEEN **BETTER** Spaces SUDDENLY "Open-Up"..??!!

aarrrggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

Then Secondly... WHENever We're in an EMPTY Aisle or Display, a **CROWD** suddenly "BEAMS-IN"!!??

-- Honestly, BLOW-FLIES on ROADKILL in SUMMER are LESS likely to Happen THAN MOTHER & I getting STORE-*SWARMED*!!

UNLESS of course, We happen to be "SELLING" at a CRAFT SHOW... Then, *THEY* are NO where to be FOUND!!

ggrrrrrrrrr...

ALL of which, brings Me to the case of These BOXES...

I managed to FIND & GRAB THEM from an Obscure-Shelf as I scoured the STORE in Search of any More of the LEOPARD-Print Ones...

EARLIER, at the rather *LONESOME*-Bin FULL of THESE "7-for-$10."-BOXES, I was just casually
"Discussing" THEM with ANOTHER-CUSTOMER, WHEN The-HORDE showed up!

-- A HOARD-ETTE-With-CHILDREN-and-TWO-Carts, began to Snatch-Up ALL of the LEOPARD-Ones before *I* could GET One!!

aarrrggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

I didn't get a chance to Ask MANAGER-DAVE whether or not if there ANY More in the Stock-Room... Considering the "SALE", and What was Out on "The Floor", there *must* be a SUPPLY back There..?!

Anyway, in addition to THESE, I got a Few of the STRIPED-Ones - 2 in BLUE & WHITE and a RED & WHITE One.

Meanwhile, during Our HOUR-Plus-BARGAINS-Perusal, MOTHER found Me These LETTER-HOOKS. -- Actually, I was in need of THOSE! And, being down to 50-Cents didn't hurt, either!

I also picked up 2-each of the GLASS-PEBBLES in BLACK and a PURPLE-Mix -- $3.99

And, from the "AS-IS"-Shelf, there was This 18-MINI-TINS Package with just One "Missing" that was *significantly* Reduced to $8.75... I just *LOVE* "Little Tins"!! -- Don't know
"what" I'll put into THEM... Although, seeing as I now have 10 of These FOAM-BRUSHES for 4-Cents-each, "Paint" could be a Possibility..?

Naturally, NO SHOP-FARI to MICHAEL'S is
"Complete" *without* the Acquisition of YARN!!

"ON-SALE" for $1.19... I noticed Those BROWN Ones Last TUESDAY, when there had been only "5"... IT's one of those Colours in COTTON that I seldom see. And, RARELY in the BIG-BALL-Size!

And, I can NEVER have *enough* DARK BLUE!

Anyhoo... We had TWO-Cart LOADS when We were *DONE*! -- LUCKILY, I was able to actually USE one of those "SURVEY-COUPONS" and ended up with an ADDITIONAL 15%-OFF of MOST of My PURCHASES!!

hmm... That put the COTTON-YARN down to a BUCK-a-BALL... WooHoo!!

So. We *had* been "Planning" on Visiting a Semi-Annual "GUILD" CRAFT SHOW that's also ON This Weekend at One of the Local High-Schools, however, "Time" was getting away from Us. There was OTHER needed Shopping to attend TO! -- Perhaps Tomorrow, IF the WEATHER is "Good"..?? -- I'm hearing some *Mystery*-PRECIPITATION at the Moment...

ggrrrrrrrrr...

We popped over to WALMART briefly... Except for the CHECKOUT Part. - NOT so "brief"!

Then finally, to THE MALL for *more* GROCERIES... Or, at least, what could *FIT* into THE CAR... The TRUNK was pretty much FULL of "EMPTY" Boxes!!

Then HOME, for the RUNNING-BETWEEN-the-LARGE-*FALLING*-MAPLE-SAP-DROPS!!

EVIL-TREE-NEXT-DOOR is *RAINING* "SYRUP" ALL-OVER Our Laneway! -- I don't ever Remember IT doing *that* MUCH before... We're seriously "almost" considering putting out CATCH-Buckets! -- The SQUIRRELS are already setting up a "SUGAR-BUSH"-Stand on what's left of the SNOWBANK!

hmm... It looks like I might have a Future USE for Those TINY-TINS after all...

*************************************************************
