*MINUS*, The TUESDAY-TOUR-de-TRAINYARDS...

Which, was Replaced with a VOYAGE to VALUE-VILLAGE... Afterall, I haven't been over There for a while. It was SENIORS'-*20%*-DISCOUNT-DAY, and I still had DAYLIGHT!

Although, I didn't Arrive until AFTER a MILK-RUN to COSTCO and, a "Pop-In" into a Couple of OTHER NEARBY STORES. I also needed to keep My VILLAGE-*PILLAGE* on "Schedule", additional GROCERY-GETTING was *yet* to be had...

ANYHOO... As Expected, the Place was "Picked-OVER" in certain Areas! HOWEVER, I did *manage* to FIND These TWO FABRIC REMNANTS...

From "Fiber-Breakage", the SOLID PIECE could be a COTTON and/or LINEN..? -- I found IT after the OTHER ONE... THEY *must* have come into the Store "together", as the COLOUR-MATCH is just TOO Perfect!

The PATTERNED PIECE looks GREAT on EITHER-SIDE! -- Despite most likely being a SYNTHETIC, I was first drawn to IT by ITS Similarity to some RIBBON that I have a-LOT-of... Secondly, ITS *SOFTNESS* pretty much SOLD Me! But, when I came across the *MATCHING*-SOLID... well... Definitely, a *DONE-DEAL*!!

Afterward, I "Lucked" into a rather Well-Done HAND-KNITTED BUTTONED-VEST for just a FEW Dollars... In WONDERFUL Condition - [doubtful that IT's ever been WORN more than ONCE?] - And the BROWN-GREY-TWEED YARN appears to be *mostly* WOOL!?

Originally, I had IT in Mind for MOTHER - [I did find IT in the "WOMEN'S"-Section...] - but FATHER is the One "in Need" of a *NEW*-One... And, AS it turns out, IT actually *is* a "MAN's" VEST!

So. There's ONE "CHRISTMAS-GIFT" taken care of - that has just SAVED Me WEEKS of STITCHINESS! -- NOW, We just have to get "MR. FUSSY" to WEAR IT!

LOBLAWS had another one of Their "NO TAXES DAY" for TODAY and Yesterday - [which We didn't do as there were OTHER STORES that needed Going-To..] -- The "GAME PLAN", was to utilize Said *SAVINGS* by Stocking-UP on Regularly-NEEDED-Items, especially on Those that just *also* happened to be "ON SALE"...

AS IN, My Fav "Brand" of STORAGE CONTAINERS! - I got FOUR. However, there's also the DILEMMA of *Finding* a "SPOT" to PUT Them while I Decide on *WHAT* to Put *IN* Them! And THEN, FIND *another* SPOT to "STORE" Them for the long-haul..??

I was also, "in the market" for some LAUNDRY SOAP... That worked out! -- ON SALE *and* came with STORE-"POINTS"! - yay!

Meanwhile, several "FOOD"-SALES were also tossed in... I'd already thought that I'd gotten a GREAT DEAL on My CEREAL, however, I later *Discovered* that I'd gotten an even *BETTER* DEAL! Apparently, NICE-CHATTY-CASHIER-GIRL had *MISSED* Charging Me on One of the BOXES!

I will SAVOUR My *SAVINGS* over BREAKFAST, Tomorrow...

ANYHOO... We kept Our "TRAVELS" to the EAST. - Instead, of going to TRAINYARDS for a change...

A long-overdue VISIT to FABRICLAND was "in order"...

That Resulted in THIS BIT of "REMNANT-RESCUE"... IT's suppose to be "MIXED-FIBERS", although I Suspect more on the COTTON-side..? - whatever... IT's rather Thick and Sturdy.  - [2-YARDS] - Would be good for Heavily-Used ITEMS. - SEAT-CUSHIONS... PATIO-PILLOWS...

Anyway, the "Classic" Simplicity of IT appealed to Me... BTW, I "think" the STRIPES are an UMBER-BROWN..? - As, in *some* "LIGHTING-CONDITIONS, there's a *possibility* that IT could be a "VIOLET" Shade!

No matter... I like, BOTH!

ACTUALLY, I'M *HOPING*... That I made IT just under "The Wire" - on SOME *REMOTE* ISLAND, just EAST of the INTERNATIONAL-DATE-LINE..? -- You know... Just to make that *I LOVE YARN DAY* "EXCUSE" more "Plausible"...

Besides, *HOW* could I Pass-Up on the "HALF-PRICE" - [LION BRAND "FISHERMAN'S WOOL"] - and "50%-OFF-COUPONS"?!! Or, that "THRIFT"-STORE Pricing..?

At $1.99 per PACKAGE, I came across NINE, containing 10 or so Hanks of various EUROPEAN-Made TAPESTRY YARN. -- "ONE" of these Days, I might actually get *around* to DOING some of those NEEDLEPOINT CANVASSES I've got *STASHED* about... Or, perhaps, some CREWEL Work..??

whatever. At *That* Price, I wasn't about to Pass IT up! Or, *WAIT* until TUESDAY for the SENIORS' DISCOUNT -- IT would have been GONE by Then!

MEANWHILE, during the *Rest* of Our VISIT to VALUE-VILLAGE...

I came across THIS 3x5-Feet-ish Heavy-COTTON BATIK... IT was in the FABRIC-Section... NO Way was THIS *ever* meant to be "Cut-Up"!

IT's obviously a "ONE-PIECE"-PANEL.

And, "SIGNED"!


However, I have absolutely NO IDEA as to ITS "COUNTRY" and/or "CULTURE" of *ORIGIN*..?!!

Based on the Depictions, I can think of Several "Possibilities" -- ANYwhere from the WEST AFRICAN COAST to the EASTERN Ones and on toward the Rest of the INDIAN OCEAN COASTLINES...

SEEING AS I HAD AN ERRAND TO RUN, OVER IN BEACON HILL...

...I thought that I would keep My "SHOP-fari"-PLANS along the Route from THERE to HERE! -- As well as, TAKE a bit of Time to BROWSE...

The "Local"-Branch of FABRICLAND will apparently be CLOSING "soon"... Hence, a "SALE" or Two is to be had... sorta...

However, I found that "PICKINGS" were somewhat on the UN-impressive side to My Likings.

In the end, I only came away with THESE TWO PIECES at $3. per Meter...

The BOTTOM-One is just over a METER of a COTTON-LINEN Blend. - Last of the Bolt...

There was more of the ABOVE-One, but I only got 2-Meters... IT's a Light-Weight COTTON FLANNEL. -- I was drawn to the "STITCH"-Pattern... Actually, I'm almost TEMPTED to REcreate IT!!

A Run through The SALLY-ANN, snagged Me FOUR of THESE BLUE-WHITE SAUCERS from ENGLAND at 59-Cents-Each.

-- I Searched for the *Matching*-CUPS, but They weren't to be Found. - pooh!



WHATEVER, I just rather Liked the SIMPLICITY, and UNDER-Glazing of the BLUE...

I had some Regular "Bloodwork" to have done... AS, did MOTHER... Although, SHE *wasn't* the ONE having *only* WATER for Breakfast!! -- THANKFULLY, She was Ready-to-Leave WHEN I was! And, that TRAFFIC was Light and PARKING was actually to be FOUND!

Despite a little nearby Grocery-Shopping thrown in, We still managed to get Back HOME within a HALF-HOUR! - [shock!] - Then, it was a quick "BRUNCH" for Me and We were OFF to MICHAEL'S...

NOT a Lot happening There, Today... I just Added to the RIBBON-*HOARD*... [Blame IT on the Blood-LOSS and 20%-OFF-Coupon!]

Meanwhile, seeing as IT was TUESDAY and "SENIORS'-DAY" at VALUE-VILLAGE, We headed on over There...

WHERE, I found These THREE "NEEDLE"-WORK SCREENS - [8.5x11" on the INSIDE] - for
90-Cents-Each after Discounts and Taxes! -- They're in Great Condition!

SOMEDAY, I'm going to HAVE TO "Dig-OUT" My THRIFTY-TAPESTRY-"THREADS" and *DO* One of THESE CANVASSES!! -- I'm kinda liking that One with the Pansies...

To Complete My "CHINTZY"-Purchases, I also Acquired THIS METER of Quilting-Quality COTTON FABRIC for $1.80... I've got absolutely NO CLUE as to *WHAT* I'm going to DO *with* IT - But, IT's NICE!

SATURDAY'S REMAINING ACTUAL "RETAIL" ACQUISITIONS...

A YARD-SALE-SCAVENGE of BEACON HILL is *never* Complete without a VISIT to The SALLY-ANN at ITS Local MALL... The Place "where" MOST of What We might have previously *MISSED*, often ends up AT!

However, THAT Said, "PICKINGS" haven't really been all that *Special* of Late... I Suppose PEOPLE are beginning to "Hang-ON" to Their *COOL*-STUFF more! - As a Result, I only Found This CERAMIC "CHERRY"-PIE COVER for just 90-Cents!

Of My most Probable "VAST" Array of PLATTERS and Such, I'm sure that I *MUST* have a Proper-Sized PIE-PLATE that will "GO" with THIS..!? -- somewhere...

Anyway, at THAT Price and in CLEAN Condition, I *couldn't* Pass IT up! -- Besides, considering how *Allergic* I am to CHERRIES, This is probably as CLOSE as I'll *ever* be getting to CHERRY PIE again!


AFTERWARD, We had proceeded to FABRICLAND... MOTHER wanted to "Check-out" Their CLOSING-SALE...

THIS, absolutely Gorgeous *FEELING* 100% WOOL 1.45M REMNANT was just BEGGING to be *RESCUED* from beneath a Pile of Pathetic-POLYESTER!! -- I am completely
*dumbfounded* by the Thought that NO ONE Spotted IT?! - And, *especially* since IT was Priced SO *LOW*!?!

WOOHOO! -- "ZEN"-SHOPPING-MOMENT!

Originally-Priced at $15. per Meter, I got IT for $2.50 per. - With Taxes, ALL for just $4.10!!

The PIC really *doesn't* do IT *any* Justice. The Actual Colour is much Deeper. THIS is a "Heavy"-Quality SUITING FABRIC - just *Thick* enough to be Used as a THROW-BLANKET. -- Which, is "WHAT" I am going to DO with IT.

The SIZE is Perfect and so are the EDGES. All IT needs is a GOOD-Quality BORDER-TRIM put on and, IT's DONE!! -- On a LEATHER SOFA or CHAIR, THIS would be *STUNNING*!!

As to the Could-DO-with-Some-Paint-EXPANDING-RACK-that's-*Only*-Missing-a-"Hanging"-HOOK, I actually ended up getting IT for **FREE**!! - [psst! Don't tell MANAGER-DAVE!]

NEWER-CASHIER-GIRL had Entered a Wrong Amount - [as in over $40,000!!] - Corrected IT. Then, FORGOT to Enter the PRICE!

-- Granted, I was probably "Distracting" Her with My COUPONS..?

LATER, I headed over to VALUE-VILLAGE and Found This SET of THREE CHROME-WIRE-PAPER-TRAYS and a Never-Used CROSS-STITCH CANVAS. -- $1.99-EACH minus the TUESDAY-20%-OFF-"SENIORS'-DISCOUNT! - That I manage to Get *without* being the "Required"-AGE!

On SECOND THOUGHT, I'm not sure IF whether THAT's a "GOOD THING"..??!! -- Then again, to the CUTE-PERKY-Somewhat-MATH-CHALLENGED-*YOUNG*-CASHIER, I'm sure that *ANYONE*-Over-40 probably *fit* the Criteria!!

But hey, for "20%-OFF", I'll get "OVER" Myself!!
