OH! And, IT's My late PATERNAL-GRANDMOTHER'S BIRTHDAY! - [SEE 06MAY2011 POST] - So, at least there was *SOMETHING* "Interesting" about IT!

I REALLY DON'T KNOW *WHY* I BOTHERED TO GET UP "EARLY"-ish...
It STILL took Us *Forever* to Leave!!

okay..FIRST OFF... IT was a Gorgeous Day!! SUNNY!! Just the *right* Temps for YARD SALE-ing!

Just Outside Our "Neighbourhood", on the Main Road is this small CHURCH that was having a
"GARAGE-SALE"... 9am to Noon... We didn't *depart* until 12:20-ish.

And then, there's the Part where The CHURCH - [although on THIS Side of the one of the Big-Intersections] - is on the OTHER-Side of the Road-Divider, and the ONLY Way to GET There, is to Drive a 1/4-Km further to Turn Left into a Parking Lot, then Double-Back! A Process that takes *several* Minutes, depending on the Lights AND TRAFFIC!

We *ARRIVED* at 12:30. People were Packing-Up. However, IT *was* a CHARITY-Sale, so NO ONE was going to "quibble" about Our Purchasing-Tardiness... AND, MOTHER just *happened* to Know a Couple of the LADIES who still had STUFF on Their Table! -- Not to mention, by this Time
"PRICES" were a Give-Away. Literally!

For a DOLLAR, I got THIS HUGE WICKER BASKET. Needs a bit of "dusting" and, there are a few Rough-Edges, but good enough to Use for "something"!

-- I suppose I could always make a Liner for IT..?

AFTER Dragging MOTHER away from the NICE-BUSY-PEOPLE-TRYING-TO-CLOSE-UP, We headed to BEACON HILL.

Only ONE SALE of any Note There. However, despite MOTHER's lone purchase of a MAGAZINE, We ended up CHATTING with the SWEET-OLD-LADY and Her DAUGHTERS for *over* a Half-Hour!!
-- So much for "hoping" to Find OTHER-SALES!

But, We went with the BACKUP-PLAN and dropped by at The SALLY-ANN.

-- hmm... Looks like "Someone" Donated "Someone Else's" YARN STASH!? --

Mostly "Synthetics", but Good-Quality Stuff. I managed to Pick-out THIS BATCH of Red WOOL.
There were 5-Balls of THIS Oatmeal-GREY "KROY" and a BLUE-Mix One - [75% Wool / 25% Nylon] - which MOTHER took "possession of"! -- I only got THIS ONE because IT was an Odd-LOT-BALL.

BTW, with the SENIORS' DISCOUNT, THEY were about 89-Cents EACH!

We hit a Few more STOPS - in My SEARCH for the "RIGHT" WATCH BATTERY! -- I eventually met with Success at ZELLERS! Oooo, and IT was 30%-OFF, too! -- YAY!

And, **YES**! The WATCH is Now WORKING!!


Meanwhile, in THE MALL's Food-Court Area, there was a BOOK-SALE going on... Of course, THEY were also "Packing-Up" when We showed UP! -- For 50-Cents, I got THIS...

How To Successfully Change a Calculator-Watch Battery...

STEP ONE - Get a Doctorate Degree in COMPUTER ENGINEERING!

It also HELPS to have Shortly-Manicured-Tiny-Fingers. The *PROPER* Screwdriver. To KNOW *Before-Hand*, the Correct BATTERY-Type!! A strong Light-Source. And, TO-NOT-LOSE-THE-MICROSCOPIC-SCREWS!! - [I suggest a piece of Adhesive-Tape to stick Them to]

I've had to OPEN My WATCH *TWICE* - so far... One of the Screws is "WELDED" in-place! I've all but Sheared-off the Head-Grooves. To compensate, I've managed to swing-out the Back-Plate to gain "ACCESS"... Then, pop the Plastic-Cover... And, of course, the BATTERY is SECURED under an ELABORATE "GRILL" of Thin-Strong-METAL!

The Goal of My FIRST Journey into ITS Temporal-Depths, was to determine *what* the Battery-TYPE was... Unfortunately, ITS *ENCLOSURE* prevented Me from viewing the needed "Number", as well as, ITS Thickness.

Based on a "Width"-only Description, MOTHER picked up some corresponding Candidates... Upon My SECOND Foray - *after* FINALLY "figuring-out" the SECRET-DEEP-SET-LATCH - I discovered to My dismay, that a much THINNER Battery was NEEDED!! -- aarrrggghhhhh!!

Tomorrow, I will GET the REQUIRED-ONE, and *OPEN* IT up AGAIN!! -- IT had *better* WORK!!

Meanwhile, I spent the Remainder of My UNwatched Time, doing THIS...

COSTCO - My FIRST STOP while the TRAFFIC is Good. Needed MILK. Grazed through the lovely, nicely-priced T-SHIRTS. But, I already have MORE than I need! Chatted with the nearby CUSTOMER-Wearing-the-Gorgeous-Silver-Turquoise-TORQUE! And, a Couple of Hard-Working-Clothes-Folding-GIRLS... Ah! My Fav Snack-Bars are finally
"on-sale"! Spending way too much Time trying to Choose Bananas for MOTHER... [NOTE: I don't like Bananas!]

Next, must keep ahead of TRAFFIC to TRAINYARDS.

MICHAEL'S - YAY! NO Evil-MARSHALLete-Traffic! Although, Parking-Capacity was on the High-side... Nevertheless, I got My FAV SPOT!! -- Sooo... seeing as I had NO "Coupons" - [see ABOVE] - NO YARN was Purchased Today! And, there wasn't ANYthing ELSE that was Begging-Me-For-A-Home, either...

I headed across to the Middle of The YARDS to the BOMBAY Company. THEY still had a Big-Sale going on, AND, I was Hoping on Finding *more* of those BLUE-WHITE-CHINA-BALLS!? -- Oooo... LOTS of Pretty-STUFF... AH-HA! BALLS!!

The *difficult* Part was TRYING to "Remember" the Patterns of the Ones I had Bought THERE the Last Time! oh, hey! THESE are ON-SALE, too! - Down to $3.-Each... SWEET!!

Next Door, BENIX - Mostly, "Kitcheny"-Things. I just Power-Browsed. Chatted-Up the Lonely-Looking-Waiting-For-Customers-SALESCLERKS.

WICKER EMPORIUM - Considerably LESS Spacious because of the abundance of More-WOOD-Than-WICKER-Stuff. Some cute Seaside-Cottage-Stuff...

Meanwhile, I got to Thinking about going on the HUNT for a new VCR for MOTHER..? However, considering the Time of Day and TRAFFIC-Patterns, I skipped on checking-out WALMART - [which I can do on Saturday] - and proceeded to BEST BUY.
