The POWER in "Our" Neighbourhood went OUT just after 3pm!! -- FIVE HOURS LATER and IT's *still* OUT!! -- And, of course, I have THINGS-TO-DO!!

Like EAT. I'm concerned about how LONG the FROZEN FOODS will STAY *FROZEN*!! Especially, in THIS Humidity - [Humidex 42C] - MOTHER has been trying to Heat-up a Can of Beans for FATHER by keeping IT IN The SUN... I suggested placing IT *IN* The CAR
-- Gets to 120F in There!

I also need to "Do-My-Hair"... That takes HOT WATER. From the TANK that has NO Power...

And then, there's the Part where I only have "so much" BATTERY-Power for My LAPTOP... So I can POST *THIS*!! -- For NOW, I'm going to Pre-Schedule the Publishing... just in case...

I'M SOOO GLAD, that IT was SENIORS'-DISCOUNT-DAY at MICHAEL'S! 'Cause, the CRAFTY-CLERKS placed a Large-OVER-Flowing-BIN of RIBBONS just INSIDE the Entrance! -- Oooo, such Entrepreneurial-EVIL!

HERE's a SAMPLING of WHAT I succumbed to... I got Additional SPOOLS of *most* of THESE!

Eventually, I managed to SEVER My Subliminal-"Strings" and was drawn to These QUAINT-LITTLE-2-INCH-BASKETS...

"into" Tealights. THESE THINGS are Destined for *OTHER* Uses!

WHAT-The-FLUSH..??!!

**HAPPY MALE-PARENTAL-UNIT DAY!!** -- BTW, DAD, I've just Saved on the WATER BILL by FIXING My RUNNING TOILET!

The stupid-Thing has been HINKY for over a Week... If the HANDLE isn't "JIGGLED" just *right*, the TANK *wasn't* FILLING! And, since IT "normally" takes FOREVER, IT was difficult to tell whether or NOT if IT was WORKING!

-- IT's a TINY "WATER-CLOSET" under the Stairs, with much STUFF on Top of the TANK-LID *preventing* any Constant-Monitoring.

Then, this Afternoon, "The JIGGLE" LOST ITS TINKLE-SUPER-POWERS... A *LIFTING* of THE LID was INITIATED!

hmm...

That SUCTION-DISK-THINGY I had to get LAST Time *isn't* Lifting... Perhaps the fact that IT *doesn't* appear to be ATTACHED to ANYTHING, **could** BE "THE-PROBLEM"..??
...hang on... "where" did THAT-Loose-SCREW-Lying-on-the-Bottom-of-The-TANK *come* FROM?!!

AH-HA!

The GOOD NEWS - NOTHING was BROKEN. Just, UNDONE... "HOW?" remains a Mystery at the Moment. -- Also, I *KNEW* how to FIX IT!!

The BAD NEWS - IT's a *tight*, DARK Spot. I had to detach another Part to ACCESS where I had to return the SCREW and then, get the DISK back on...

Oh! Did I "mention" the part where I had to SPEND almost an HOUR **WAITING** for the TANK to FILL, so I could ADJUST the FLOAT properly..?

You know, IT's just occurred to Me... The FAUCET-Fixing. The WIPER-BLADE-Bandaging. Now, TOILET-'taching... ALL "WATER"-related Repairs! -- THESE are NOT "Skills" that I would associate with being an "AQUARIAN"!!

I must've KILLED the **WRONG**-"SPIDER" in a PREVIOUS-LIFE!?! -- Is that THUNDER I Hear..?

IT was a *SCORCHER* Day! We left in the LATE Morning, with Intents on heading straight [sorta]
to BEACON HILL... BUT, We kinda got Side-Tracked with the Several YARD-SALES in *OUR* Neighbourhood!!

The FIRST, was at a "Regular" One -- We always get *GREAT* DEALS there! Such as THIS Bunch of FABRIC REMNANTS... All COTTON, except for the PLAID WOOL Piece. REALLY-NICE-YARD-SALE-LADY let Me have the LOT for a DOLLAR. As well as, 4-SMALL-BALLS of COTTON YARN for another "LOONIE"!

Over on the Next Street in a CUL...

TWO-OLDER-GENTLEMEN were giving Us "HALF-PRICE" Deals!

For 50-Cents, I picked up THIS rather nicely Textured
5-Inch LIDDED JAR.

I love the *feel* of Salt-Glazed Pottery. The PIECE is Stamped and Signed with the Name "WILSON". -- Those GUYS were Selling a bunch of "GOLF"-Stuff..?

So, I do have to wonder as to whether THIS is Golf-Related somehow..?

As MOTHER was BUSY Bargaining on some METAL-DESK-TABLE Contraption, I *Spied* THIS Unsuspecting-Little-Treasure-Trove...

IT's an Old SEWING-BOX that's been Crudely-Repaired over the Years.

And, compared to My Previous-$5.-Purchase some Time ago - [SEE 19SEP2010 POST] - of an Old LARGE-REALLY-GREAT-CONDITION-BOX, at $3. THIS ONE was sorely "LACKING"! -- at First Glance...

However, after taking a quickie Pandora-Peek of the "CONTENTS", I took a Chance...

LOTS of STUFF!! -- THREAD!! An Assortment of BITS & BOBS that I've still to really Check out. AND, Two OTHER *Surprising* GOODIES!!

The FIRST, was The ABOVE *VINTAGE*-BOXWOOD-and-BRASS-FOLDING-12-INCH-RULER!! Although IT has NO "Markings" except for "No.69", I have since Discovered - on EBAY
- that IT's a "STANLEY". -- *Mine* is in MUCH Cleaner Condition than Those "on Auction"!!

The Brass-Inlay is so Beautifully done! I've yet to find out  how OLD IT is. -- As it happens, MOTHER also has a YARD-Stick Version from a Different Company, with similar "tooling"... IT was My GRANDFATHER's and is at the *very* least 65-Years-Old!

The SECOND "GOODIE" is Several - [I spotted about 4 so far..] - EXTREMELY-Well-Made-GLASSED[?]-over-ENAMEL-on-STERLING[?]-BUTTONS!! -- THEY appear to be SCHOOL-BLAZER-Type BUTTONS. There's a "CREST" and "MOTTO" - which is leading Me towards RUTGERS..? -- I have *much* RESEARCH to DO on THEM!

"WHEN" We finally did GET to BEACON HILL, the *only* SALE still "Open" was at Another "REGULAR" One! -- Where, for a DOLLAR, I Acquired - The ABOVE - "Actual"-SIZE - 2x1.75" - Genuine WATER-COLOUR!!

The Frame is a bit Dinged on the Upper-Left-Corner, but I'm thinking about RE-Framing IT anyway. IT could *do* with having an Acid-Free MATTE!

So. ABOUT Those "BAGS"...

BETWEEN Our "YARD"-Work and SHOP-editions, We stopped by the Annual "FUN-FAIR" that the LOCAL-COUNCILLOR Sponsors.

-- FREE HOT DOGS! FREE **BAGS**!! Amusement-Rides, Police-Car-Fire-Engine-Crawl-all-Overs for the Many-Sun-FRYING-Munchkins!

IT's been held for the Last Couple of Years *behind* the Local ICE-ARENA - with LIMITED PARKING! -- I'm still in Shock over getting IN *AND* OUT of the Place! -- Previously, the EVENT was considerably Larger when IT had been over at "THE MALL". On a Sunday. With LOTS of Parking!



ANYHOO, the Outcome of this *LONG*-HOT-DAY-NOT-SO-SHORT...

THE BEST INVENTION SINCE "THE STAPLE"!

A rather RARE Moment occurred Today...

Despite My profound LACK of "VEHICULAR-MECHANICAL-Knowledge", I do nevertheless, possess a certain Aptitude for "GADGET-ty"-Things. AND, have Small-Steady-Fingers! *QUALITIES* that FATHER was in *need* of to affect a particular "CAR" REPAIR!!

Apparently, the Not-THAT-Old-Left-WINDSHIELD-WIPER had COME OFF as He had been Cleaning underneath IT!!

He was Concerned that "Something" might have Accidently Snapped-and-or-Fell-OFF!? -- They *don't* Make THEM like They USED TO!

Anyhoo... AFTER My EXAMINATION and Comparison with the OTHER-BLADE, the "PART" in Question *appeared* to be INTACT. Just - in My Opinion - POORLY Designed and PLASTIC! -- This is *where* THE PAPER-CLIP comes to the Rescue!

Once I had finally "Figured-Out" - [at least, I HOPE I did!] - HOW all of the PARTS
"INSERTED" into WHERE & WHAT, I made *certain* that THEY'd CONTINUE to with the *HELP* of the Handy-Dandy-Plastic-Coated-CLIP.

NOTE-TO-SELF... *TEST* BLADE "SECURITY" while **IN** Driveway during Next RAINFALL.

I *do* HOPE that what I *did* WORKS... I'd hate to think that 30-Years of CLERICAL
"Ingenuity" would have gone to WASTE!
